If you recently purchased some unsweetened apple sauce from Trader Joe’s, check the “best before date on the label.” The company that makes that the “organic”, “all natural” and “first crush” Gravenstein apple sauces for the grocery chain is recalling those products because there could be glass pieces in the jar.
The problem came to light after customers found glass in some jars and complained.
If you think your sauce is suspect, check the “Best Before” date, which is stamped on the lid:
- Trader Joes “All Natural” applesauce has a “Best Before” date through Dec. 16, 2018.
- Trader Joes Organic Unsweetened Applesauce has a “Best Before” date through Oct. 6, 2018.
- Trader Joes First Crush Gravenstein Apple Sauce has a “Best Before” date through Aug. 8, 2018.
Manzana Products, the company that manufactures the applesauce, says people who’ve bought these products shouldn’t eat them and can return the 24 oz jars to Trader Joe’s for a full refund. More information is available here.
