So Long...

It has been one challenging and exciting year. I am so happy that I joined the WebMD Fitness Challenge. I have learned so many things and accomplished so much during this time. I am smaller than I was before I got pregnant, I finally was able to fit into my "skinny" jeans after years of thinking that would never happen.

Even my family has caught on to the lifestyle change. My sister hired a personal trainer and my husband is working out like 4 times a week and watching what he eats.

I am happy to report that I am still maintaining my weight even a month after the last weigh-in. I am comfortably able to wear smaller clothing, although I have yet to go to the mall to purchase new items to fit my new size. I have still been modifying items I have in my closet. I have been walking during my lunch break and still eating those Cheerios and oatmeal every other day. Dinner is always before 7:00 p.m. so that I don't go to bed on a full stomach and I am still drinking lots of water. I believe all of this is helping me maintain my goal weight.

Thanks again WebMD!

Thank You WebMD

I am so excited. I have done it! I have completed the WebMD Fitness Challenge. I managed to maintain my goal weight these last couple of weeks and even come under my goal weight by a couple of pounds. My current weight as of my last weigh-in is 158.6 pounds.

I am so grateful to the WebMD staff for selecting me and giving me the resources to get started on this fitness journey. In addition, I can't forget the WebMD community who have followed my progress and kept me motivated along with my husband, family and friends.

It is a journey because it does not end with the challenge; it is a lifetime commitment that I am glad I started.

Holding on to my goal
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

I weighed in and I am still just under 160. Thank goodness. I have only worked out once this week and that was with the trainier. I need to get back in gear. Being sick really set me back; now I am trying to find my way back to my regular schedule. It seems harder to maintain this weight then it was trying to reach it.

Stay tuned...

I Did It!!!
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

I did it!!! I finally made my goal weight of 160 pounds! That's actually less then my starting weight at the beginning of my pregnancy. Can you believe it? I can't.

When I weighed myself at my last meeting with Sega and Michael, I held my breath before looking down at the scale because I was so scared of what the scale might say. I had been working out like crazy this past week and although I was getting in a lot of extra cardio, sometimes even that isn't enough to tip the scale. It just depends on how your body decides to fall that day.

It seemed like my goal weight was so unattainable at some points throughout this challenge. Now that I have achieved my goal, the real challenge is to maintain or drop below my target weight.

Wish me luck.

Still determined
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

I forgot to mention in my last blog entry that I jumped rope for the first time in years. Sega, the trainer, wanted to switch things up a bit and had me jump rope for 10 minutes or so. Man, that was so hard. It takes a lot of energy and stamina or endurance to jump rope that long. Of course, I had to stop a couple of times in between, to either catch my breath or recover from tripping. I've never been graceful with the rope but I was happy for the change of pace.

My neck has been bothering me a lot lately so I've had to cut back on exercises that put a lot of strain on my neck. I tend to get headaches that stem from my neck from time to time. It actually stems back to a number of car accidents I've been in the past. It's been hard to escape the injury all together. Therefore, we've been working to modify my exercise on the weeks my neck are extra sensitive. This week I am concentrating on cardio so that I can shed these extra few pounds that will not leave my side. These last few pounds have been the hardest to shake but I am still determined! Stay tuned...

Spring has sprung
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

The last week has been quite busy. We've been spring cleaning and preparing for Easter. Easter dinner came and went and I did fine. My family traditionally cooks big dinners and I managed to eat only one plate! I actually got full a lot quicker than expected; however, I cannot say the same for my drinking habits. That sweet tea crept in somehow and had a couple of cups full. I wonder does it count if I had a slice of lemon in each.

Last week's weigh in was no surprise. I didn't lose or gain any weight, just steadily maintaining. I was a little scared when stepping on the scale because I have been snacking a lot this past week. I have been craving ice-cold Coke and chocolate for some reason. And no, I am not pregnant, just greedy.

Where do cravings come from anyway? Some weeks I can go without having any type of craving and then others I can't stop myself. There's this gourmet Belgian chocolate location that I found and I have found myself in there every other day. The chocolate just melts in your mouth. I had to stop myself because I was really getting carried away. Therefore, this week I am trying to cut back on many items so that I can reach my goal weight. Sometimes it just seems so unobtainable even though I only have a few pounds to go. I also haven't made it to the gym this week and I am supposed to weigh in with Sega, the trainer, in a couple of days.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot; I did a 5K walk last weekend also. That was a great motivator. It was like nothing to walk it. Now if you would have put me in the same place a year ago, I might not have felt the same way. It was fun. My husband and I are considering joining others just to get the exercise.

I look forward to next week and hoping to be few pounds lighter.

Shopping Woes
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

I can't seem to fit anything in my closet lately and what I do wear looks horrible because it is either too big making me look frumpy or too old. I haven't really been shopping since my pre-pregnancy days and even before then I was doing very little because my husband and I were saving for our wedding. Simply put, I need a completely new wardrobe because I am tired of looking like yesterday's news.

I did a little bit of shopping this past week and I have to say I am a little scared of the size that fits me. Yes, I know that I boasted about fitting into my skinny, size 10 jeans but those jeans are more than a couple of years old and a little worn. Therefore, I really didn't expect to fit into a size 10 at today's clothing stores but to my surprise I could and I was hesitant to purchase that size. My husband was with me and asked why would I get a size bigger and I have to admit I am afraid of slipping.

Right now, my closet is filled with a range of sizes including some size 10's that I haven't been able to wear in years. I would hate to buy size 10 clothing and then not be able to fit them and waste more money and have to do this shopping thing all over again. I hate to even admit this but I am scared of slipping back to a larger size. It happens all the time.

So I am kind of in a holding pattern. I've bought a few pieces here and there but haven't really took the leap of faith to buy a lot of items in a "10". I am still waiting to see how much more weight I can lose. This week, since my husband is feeling better I am trying to at least get some cardio in everyday. I'll let you know how that goes.
