Taste Test Tuesday: Minute Maid Light Cherry Limeade
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

I must be on some PR person's list somewhere because at 9:30 AM this morning there was a knock on my door. On my porch was a mysterious delivery company's pouch with my name and address on it. Inside, double wrapped, were two cans of Minute Maid Light Cherry Limeade, sent by a public relations company.

I'm not proud. I stuck both cans in my refrigerator and many hours later, I was serving them up to my daughters after school. (It's more fun to taste test with a small team of tasters).

We all kind of went, "yup, it tastes like a light cherry limemade would taste".

It has 10 calories and 50 mg of sodium per can. It contains a 3 1/2 juice blend and it contains some alternative sweeteners (aspartame, acesulfame potassium, sucralose).

Did it taste good? Yes, it wasn't too bad--somewhat refreshing on a hot afternoon. It rather reminded me of some of the low calorie fruit drinks from another brand. Will I start drinking this instead of my daily token can of Diet Pepsi? That's a funny one. I wouldn't turn one down at a party though.

Aspartame can hurt anyone

Hello,
I Daryl am 49. But from 1996-02 I had 7 seizures on a 3 mile strip east of cleveland. The last 3 less than 1000 ft apart. Once I found seizures in aviation on the internet and avoide certain mints and drinks my seizures end. But in ER or appointments aspartame or anything linked to my diet NEVER came up when being treated.
I was an employee at Cleveland clinic 1987-97. And under a doctors care the since 3-67. My seizures from childhood ended in 3-67. But in 96 I had a grand mall one day before my appointment. Then fired 11 months later. Plus I had petit mal seizures in reaction to certain things I once consumed. Two being, sunshine farm orange juice. And Chloraseptic throat spray.
If you ever need someone to demonstrate the instant affects of aspartame, with or without an EEG. Fell free to contact me . My career at Cleveland Clinic in medical records ended, so I am on SSI thanks to aspartame. I quit driving as well. Knowing that aspartame can hurt or kill anybody. Meaning a passenger driver, or pedestrian can be in the path of anyone who happens to black out. For me, minute maid orange juice does NOT affect me as does sunshine farm orange juice.
