Peanut Butter Recall Now Includes Sonic products and Carvel Ice Cream
This just in from FDA... Salmonella was found in the ConAgra Peanut Butter Plant in Georgia and it matches the strain found in the Peter Pan and Great Value peanut butter recovered from consumers and the strain found in the consumers who recently became ill.
And now there are more products that might be affected by this salmonella contamination. The ConAgra plant in Sylvester, GA, also sent some of its Peter Pan peanut butter in bulk to its plant in Humboldt, TN, which makes certain peanut butter toppings. These brands have been recalled and are no longer being sold but the FDA advises that some consumers may still have these products in their home.
[Consumers who have any of the products listed below should discard them. Individuals who are not sure if the purchased product contains the recalled peanut butter topping should contact the store where the product was purchased.]

Now that transfats are banned all over, what do you think would be a good substitute? I saw on www.palmoiltruthfoundation.com that palm oil is a good natural alternative since it is proposed to be healthy, rich in antioxidants, tocotrienols, coenxyme Q10 and all that jazz. Apparently, it's great for frying, since it has a neutral taste and even prevents artireole sclerosis and can help to boost our HDL (good cholesterol), etc - what do you think?
Wow, what does this have to do with peanut butter and salmonella? Are you a plant or shill? And you chose to accidentally "drop" a URL for us to peruse at our convenience.
Call me cynical, but you didn't have any business posting that here.
Now, on topic: I am very interested in seeing the results of the investigation into this. I'd like to know how the salmonella was introduced, and how it got to be so bad. Sure, it only takes a few bacteria to create a mammoth colony, given the right growing conditions. But, what system broke down that allowed it to run away as it did?
Wow ! That is a tough job being the unoffical and unappointed arbiter of what belongs in which article response. I hope the first poster feels sufficiently scolded.
u all r nuts!
you all r nuts!
Sure, the first comment does not have anything to do with the salmonella outbreak. But it sure does have one thing in common with the discussion topic: peanut butter. Maybe somebody wandered of the actual topic and just posed a question. Why the hostile approach?
Ok the reeses peanut butter cup on Carvels cake is band, What about all the other Reeses peanut butter products??? this is a big concern to me because I frequently buy the mintures for my kids.
No worry about reeses peanunt butter cups themselves!

I was sick from the Peter Pan peanut butter. I love peanut butter and we had 5 containers of it on the shelf, two of which were opened, crunchy for me and creamy for my husband. I had been nursing the peanut butter and had a little bit on my english muffins since around November. I had't gotten totally sick because I had it every other day or so and very little. It kept me just slightly nauseaous but I could do what I needed to throughout the day. February 13th it hit me like a bat out of heck. Violently throwing up, massive stomach pains and a fever that took two week to go down. The third week I was still dizzy and weak. My husband had read about the peanut butter and freaked out. I had been poisoning myself for months before it nearly killed me. (Of course I didn't know it)My doctor gave me an antibiotic and my husband returned the containers of peanut butter to Publix. I am so scared at this point to food at all. You never know what is in anything anymore. I hope they figure out what happened and try to prevent this from happening again in any company.
I know there is no scare but my kids and myself have been sick for over a month and still have not found out why. It started with heavy disentary and then my kids began pukeing 1 or 2 times a day for the last 1 week. I do not use Peter Pan, I always use Jiff but as for there school and anywhere else who knows. What are Americans surposed to do anymore not eat? The spinich, the beef, now the peanut butter. What is the problem>
I have 4 kids 3 at which have been sick lately, they have had stomach cramps for the past 2 weeks and last weekend it hit my daughter and son like a ton of bricks, throwing up, fever, diarrhea, and my son is even dizzy. We live on a military base and these dr's over here will not run any tests on them i have been to 4 differant dr's and have gotten 4 differ diagnoses. Im really getting scared and dont know what to do, they dont eat peanut butter very often at all but they do eat things with it in there like the nutter butter cookies their ages are 1 10 and 5, if this is salmonella will it go away? Arre there any tests that these dr's can do but won't so i can pitch a fit til they do?
