Taste Test Tuesday: Vegetables Meet Fruit - In a Cup!
"If only I could just drink my vegetable and fruits servings," I've heard people say over the years. Well, the V8 company (part of Campbell Soup) seems to have just made that possible. I'm not a tomato juice kind of gal (love tomatoes every other way including sundried) so I'm not usually hanging around the tomato juice and V-8 area of my supermarket.
But V8 has a new juice invention they are peddling. It's V.Fusion, 100% vegetable 100% fruit juice and each 8 ounce glass qualifies as a 1/2-cup serving of vegetables and a 1/2-cup serving of fruit.
It comes in three flavors:

Another great fruit/vegetable juice combo is by Kagome, and can be found in many grocery stores. It has no added sugar or preservatives. They have large and small bottles, and about 8 different flavors. Their web site is www.kagome.us.
I love the v8 new Fusion. It's the best way to get in my vegs and fruits. The only down fall is it's a little pricey. But I think it's good to drink and I really like the strawberrys and bananas flavor. I suggest that you try it.
A little bit of this stuff is ok, but it's certainly not a replacement for vegetables or fruits. In fact, when fruits and vegetables are made into liquid, most of the fiber is lost and the sucrose from fruit is absorbed quickly into the bloodstream raising insulin levels, which can lead to increased bodyfat and weight gain. There is no substitute for the real thing. But, it's better than nothing I guess.
O.K. As a Pepsi / Dr. Pepper / Mountain Dew / replacement dring at my office job: I've tried v8 and Propel Fitness water. The Doctor is not impresses with liquid vegetibles... "better than nothing?" I just want "better than soda pop" and I'm happy. Is pure water the only real healthy drink? I need some flavor, and ice cold throughout the stressful day. What would be 3 excellent choices? Anybody? Please comment.
Kagome is the best.
