Taste Test Thursday: Starbucks Vivanno Blend Smoothies
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

They both start with one whole banana...then comes the whey protein and fiber powder. You choose the milk (low fat, nonfat, or Silk vanilla soy milk) and then if you order the Orange Mango Banana Blend, orange mango juice finishes it off. If you order the Banana Chocolate Blend, then it's bittersweet cocoa that is added.

If you want to take these blender drinks up a notch, you can add green matcha powder to the Orange Mango Banana Blend (if you like this flavor and the color green, you will like this addition) or you can add a shot of espresso (even decaf) to your Banana Chocolate Blend.

The fiber in the "whey protein and fiber powder" comes from inulin. This is a naturally occurring soluble fiber that, in this case, comes from chicory root. There may be a little added bonus to inulin too - it is thought to stimulate the growth of friendly bacteria in the large intestine.

I tried the Orange Mango Banana Blend with the soy milk and very much enjoyed it. The Banana Chocolate Blend had a subtle chocolate flavor and if you like chocolate covered bananas, my guess is you will like this blend too.

The Orange Mango Banana Blend (Grande) contains:

The Banana Chocolate Blend (Grande) contains:

I work for starbucks and depending on where you live and how old the market is for your area watch out for the bananas! If you are in a smaller market your bananas come frozen and shipped once a week. By the end of the week they are smooshy and brown. Just keep an eye out!

I tried a sample the other day ... mostly tasted bananas and that whey taste was gross ... I'm not against healthier choices, but i thought the Vivanno was NAAAASSTYYY! Won't be trying those!

As a Certified Holistic Health Counselor, I am a big fan of these! I am glad Starbucks is trying to be a bit more healthy. I am wondering about the sugar content though...

i read recently that
starbucks is closing 60 stores but locations were not listed. yesterday, SuperTarget opened across from my condo complex and i visited. they had a Starbucks and of course target's cafe. Starbucks was very busy (both were) i do not drink Starbucks coffee i find it very strong.those fancy drinks seem more like a meal to me and i prefer eating fruit as is. i think you have to be very careful of where you eat, drink etc. i read that FL and Calif made the top 5 states with the highest digestive illnesses.

I tried the orange mango vivanno when I was staying at a hotel this past week. There was a starbucks at the entrance to the hotel parking lot. I loved the drink so much that I bought one every day and drank it as my breakfast. They are excellent! They were very pricey though at about $3.75 with the tax included.

I like both of them, with or without the espresso. They are REALLY good at the end of a 6 mile workout. Wonder how they would taste if you mixed them ALL together? ;)

i also work for starbucks. previous person may be right about his/her comment but the bananas at my store are in Great condition all the time (we receive ours every other day)!! ours arent frozen though.

also, for people who dont really like the strong banana taste, ask them to put a tall cup of ice instead, it makes the drink thicker in ice and it hides the taste better. Not to mention you get more water from the ice in your drink rather than the calories.

It is great to have another choice at Starbucks. I enjoyed the Vivanno as a lift in the afternoon.
It has a healthy taste so don't expect a sugary taste. I saw the fresh banana before it was used. Very pleased.
