Weight Loss, Week 2
AddThis Social Bookmark Button

Thanks to all who have commented on my last post. It seems that some of you missed the first post in which I described the competition that I am a part of at the hospital where I work. This is why I am obsessing about the loss.

I am part of a team who is competing for a prize, and I don't want to let the teammates down. Otherwise those of you who said "forget the scale" are right, weighing yourself too often can be discouraging. On the other hand, as of this morning I am 3/4 of the way to losing my third pound, so I'm happy that the scale keeps going in that direction.

I am working out in an inspirational place though; you should see all the 70, 80, and even 90+ year olds who are there working out three days a week. A gentleman I know who is in his late 20's is also there. He was recently diagnosed as having sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and early diabetes, all due to his morbid obesity. He is an inspiration, working out every day, even wearing oxygen so that he can work harder. He's only been there about six weeks and has already lost more than 35 pounds! He says he can't believe how great he feels, and how much more exercise ability he has in a very short time.

So all of you out there waiting for the right day, or the right moment to start getting fit, what are you waiting for? I know the Nike thing is old, but they ARE right-just do it!

Laurie

Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work.

please E-mail me at pjk1027@comcast.net

Did you know Cholesterol is nessary, we need it, we should not get rid of it. Our Adrenals need it. If we did not have it we would not have any sex hormones, it aids our digestion, our nerve impulses, it is a building block for our body. it gives our skin the ability to shed water., cholesterol is not fat. It is pearly-colored waxy, soapy consistancy stuff that provides the cell membres with their structual integrity and regulates the flow of nutrients into waste products of the cells. Does anyone know that? And I read something else about lipid lowing drugs cause cancer. Are our Doctors that are going through med school being lied to. It is our diet that is in question here. the way all this processed junk food we eat and all the salt we take in, not allowing are bodies to get the proper vitamines that behind all this? It is only a gimick to sell more drugs. People keep it simple.
The drug companies want to make us sick so they can make more money. It is called greed. Exercise, fruits and vegetables, that you may have to grow yourself, clean water, grains and beans, may be the only way now to stop heart disease. Lets get control of our health and our health care products. Not let some drug company tell us what we should take. A consumer like myself is a lot better today because I did just that.

"Cholesterol is necessary, we need it, we should not get rid of it."

No doubt. Where it is not needed is clogged along the insides of one's vascular system.

Like most things, it is not a case of eliminating the substance but of balancing quantities and ensuring correct placement.

"The drug companies want us sick so they can make more money."

Yeah, well, cholesterol build-up can cause heart attacks and thrombosis. The drug companies need you ALIVE; this is also called greed.

Well it looks like both of you agree on one thing...only you are responsible for your own health and well being. Be a smart consumer and take care of yourself.

Can someone, doctors preferred, please tell me if this is true...

This is a very good article. Not only about the warm water after your meal, but about heart attacks. This makes sense.. The Chinese and Japanese drink hot tea with their meals...not cold water...maybe it is time we adopt their drinking habit while eating!!! Nothing to lose, everything to gain...

For those who like to drink cold water, this article is applicable to you. It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed. It will slow down the digestion. Once this "sludge" reacts with the acid,
it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the
solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.
