Catching Up With Old Friends
Hello!
The weather here in NJ has been incredible for this time of year! Driving home from work it was 57 degrees and sunny! It does a lot to lift the spirits and make a person feel good. I am sitting on my proverbial WebMD porch! I am hoping to see a few of my friends from the Migraine and Pain Management boards! Ya know, life has been so busy I have lost touch with the Bungie Belles...I am wondering how they are doing these days!
For those of you who have yet to meet them, the Bungie Belles are a group of ladies who share a common experience--headaches. Although they all suffer incredible pain at times, they choose to keep a sense of humor about it. Over the past year, they have supported each other through some painful trials by creating humorous distractions...They are notorious for taking their pain and attacking it head on by creating all types of funny and incredible scenarios designed to reduce their pain to manageable levels. Their adventures have included bungie jumping, humorous decapitations, and costume parties that they create with incredible detail to name a few. Although some folks may think their antics are silly, they have also proven to be effective in distracting people in pain.
Over this past year, some wonderful friendships and support networks have developed on my Pain Management and Migraine boards and I hope folks won't get so busy with life they forget to stop by from time to time!

Hello!!!!!!
I am still receiving my migraine board e-mails although I don't often open them anymore. Today I did and saw the invitation to a bungee-belle party. How can one resist?
I love your porch and think it a great place to hang out. Have you been well?
We have had pretty good weather since the later part of December, but today the snow came again. I am thankful for the wonderful break from winter, but it had to come to an end sometime. Today also brings a migraine. I still 'sing' praise for my triptan. It had made such a huge difference in my life. I surely cannot imagine how I ever made it through the pre-triptan days!
Well, I am still trying to work out the kinks in Dad's placement in a nursing home. The deal to sell his house fell through and the nursing home wants to be paid. I am not sure what is going to happen here. I fervently hope that something shakes loose very soon. I am very nervous about this one.
I hope all the belles are doing well. Last I heard, Aura's computer was having trouble loading IE. I am ready to party anytime and anywhere. Preferably it will be held somewhere sunny and warm. If not, I know where to find my boots and warm coat. It seems to be the season for a good hooooowwwwwwwllllllll and I think I'm ready to take that bungee plunge now!
Love to all and take care,
orange
I, too, have lost touch with a lot of the posters on the boards...I hope all is well with everyone. I've been so busy lately, we're trying to adopt, but today discovered a dear friend in crisis who wants to give me and my husband temporary guardianship of her three children while she is seeking mental health counseling.
Of course, I said yes...but we are going to go from a 0 child home to having 3 under the age of 8!!! WOW!!! I pray the migraines stay away and the weather holds up here a little in Texas b/c kids need sunshine and fresh air to play.
Best wishes to everyone and I pray everyone is doing good!!
Help! Not sure if you have heard of this before but my 12year old daughter is experiencing headaches around her right eye at her jaw and she says when it happens she is only seeing out of her right eye, in black and white not color. Took her to the doc and he has prescribed some medication for migranes but was curious if you had heard of anything like this before. Any advice or comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi Indie (our fearless leader) and fellow Bungee Belles!!
It's so good to hear from you! I don't get around to the board as much either these days but do lurk whenever I get a chance and even post a reply once in awhile! You have been pretty quiet on the boards lately Indie, and I was beginning to worry about you :( Glad to hear you are enjoying some nice weather. Those of us North of the border have been enjoying LOTS of beautiful sunshine and temps far warmer than our normal too. It certainly does help to lift ones spirits. Not to mention the extra minutes of daylight we're gaining each day now... Hope your Christmas and New Years were good and that you were able to spend time with loved ones. How are your foot and head holding up? Are you completing any courses right now?
Your porch sounds like just the place for a Bungee Belle extravaganza!! Save a seat for me! I still have some cabbage rolls and perogies left from Christmas... I'll bring them along. We really need our favorite baker Belle to bring along some of her yummy goodies (are you out there Mo?).
I'm going to have to bring out my best Bungee Belle attire and dust it off since it's been awhile since we last got together. Hope my feathers are still fresh. I'm still waiting to hear from Sue about how she's coming along with making our new boas. Sure hope she gets her computer problems sorted out soon. We can't start without her. By the way... I'm still missing a slipper from the last bash...anyone come across it yet?
I'm sooo ready for a great day/evening of distraction events and a good hooooowwwwwwwllllllll! Shall we include the 10 second dash? I've been practicing up since our last competition Orange and think I've cut my time by a few seconds. I'm ready for a rematch when you are ;)
I sure hope your Dad's affairs get settled soon, Orange. You have had waaay to much on your plate with this for so long already. It's no wonder your head is acting up. Glad to hear the meds are still doing their job. How are the fursons doing?
I hope your adoption proceedings go smoothly Kim. It is a very generous and kind thing you are doing for your friend in need. She is very fortunate to have someone like to help her out. I hope everything goes smoothly for you in your transition from a 0 children household to 3. It certainly will be a change!
I've been hanging in. My Botox treatment at the end of November has worked very well in relieving what was a horrible 4 week period of headaches. I am again approaching the end of my second month post-treatment and expect that my headaches will begin to return in a few weeks as the Botox wears off (like they always do). I feel very fortunate though to have at least a few really good months from the Botox.
I'm back in a modified PT gym program where I spend around 2-3 hours, 3x a week in the gym completing a specialized program. I am trying to resolve some of the issues that caused me to be in a constant flare-up mode when I was in school last year. Hopefully I will have things under MUCH better control should I return to school in the fall, as I plan to. I have also been back seeing my Pain psychologist once a week since September and I think we are making some progress. It's been a very complex and trying process to try to get things under control.
I ran into some trouble once I hit the gym again... I found out that not only do I have bunions on both feet but also have arthritis in both of these joints as well. That explains a lot of the foot problems I have been experiencing for some time. I saw a podiatrist this week for the first time. He won't even do orthotics for me until I have successfuly stretched a very tight muscle so he's given me a stretch to do for a few weeks and then I will see him again. In the meantime it's absolutely NO treadmill but I'm doing ok with using the bike for my cardio workout. They also have me wearing a heart monitor so that I'm sure I am working out hard enough to get the most benefit from my workout. No cheating with that on--LOL.
My new little puppy is doing GREAT! She just turned 6 months old and is such a joy to have around. I love her to bits and she makes me laugh all the time with her enthusiasm for everything and her puppy antics. The whole family adores her and of course she is spoiled rotten. I'm so glad I have her.
Well... I've rambled on long enough (go figure--LOL). I hope the rest of the Belles show up!
Thanks for starting this blog Indie! It's good to know that you have been missing us as much as we've been missing you.
BUNGEEEEEEE!!!!!
Luv and ((Hugs))

Hi Indie and everyone -
I too have been wondering how everyone has been - I've poked my head in on the boards once in awhile but not seen many of the Bungee Belles. Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and New Years. Mine was hectic but fun what with my two young grandsons.
My doctor has upped my Topamax to the maximum dosage of 400 mg. per day and I hate to get my hopes up yet but...I haven't had a migraine for 9 days! This is the longest I've gone without a migraine in a long, long time. So, just maybe, we've finally found a preventative that is going to work. Keep your fingers crossed for me. (Of course, I also am 'enjoying' a renewal of nausea, strange taste in my mouth, the quivers, etc.) but I am hoping these will subside in a few more weeks.
I am having problems with my SCS implant and contemplating having it removed. This is very frustrating and disappointing for me because I had one year of very good results. To top it off, the doctor who did the implant is no longer available to remove it - so I have to find someone else (someone who hasn't been through the whole process of trial & error with treatments with me, someone who I'm not familiar with).
We've had alot of snow, then rain, then warm weather here. Seems more like March at the moment. But I guess the weatherman says we are in for some more snow this week. I think the weather has been strange all across our country this year. I think we need a Bungee Belle Chunky Dunk (sorry girls I can't do a skinny dip!) with all the trimmings - drinks with little umbrellas, lounge chairs, cat-eye sunglasses, and don't forget the boas! Direct me towards the sandy beach! I'm ready for some sun! Who will join me? Shirley
