September is Pain Awareness Month
September is "Pain Awareness Month". Several pain organizations are hosting conferences designed to assist health care professionals in learning more about pain and its management. The American Society of Pain Educators held Pain Week 2007 in Las Vegas. I was very fortunate to be able to attend. While there I earned close to 30 contact hours of continuing education. The days were lengthy and intense, but well worth it. I had the opportunity to learn from some of the most prestigious experts in the field of pain.
During the conference, the American Society of Pain Educators celebrated its third year! It is exciting to see an organization of just a few members grow so fast and achieve as much as this society has. Pain Week 2007 was celebrated and attended by close to 750 health care professionals - doubling the organization's expectations!
