A Doctor and a Mom

by Hansa Bhargava, MD

Welcome to Fit4Familes, where we hope to have engaging conversations with you about what else, raising fit kids! I am Dr. Hansa Bhargava, or just Hansa works too. As Tracy mentioned yesterday, I am a pediatrician and a mom of twins. I love being a mom and agree with Tracy that it is the best job in the world. But, I also really enjoy being a pediatrician and offering suggestions for other moms on how to provide the healthiest lifestyle possible for their children. So I am glad to join Tracy and you in this discussion.

I know it is all easier said than done, right? As moms, we juggle so many things at any given moment. Carpool, practices, games, homework, meals — the list goes on and on. Sometimes it seems we are so overextended that there is not time to take on one more thing. I can totally relate!

Many programs out there talk about the importance of exercise and good nutrition, but few talk about holistic health for kids – and THAT includes sleep, relaxation (not letting stress rule your life) as well as the right food, and being active. And this is why, as a pediatrician and mom, I love Raising Fit Kids and the FIT program. Our blog, Fit4Familes, is all about looking at all four of these areas to make sure our kids are fit in all ways. So at the end of the day, they are happy (and so are we).

So, let’s take some time out of our hectic days to talk with each other. We can reflect, laugh, and share — here, at Fit4Familes, our stories about raising happy and fit kids.
