The 7-Minute Workout?
by Tracy Jensen
Here’s a bit of news I found interesting: Kids can benefit from as little as 7 minutes of intense exercise daily to prevent obesity, according to a recent study. Of course, this is combined with a certain amount of moderate activity, and the intense exercise has to be more rigorous than a brisk walk.
Seven minutes doesn’t seem like much, but the study also points out that many of the children involved did not even get that, which the study attributes to a lot of screen time. But I am encouraged by this news. On the days when we don’t have a structured physical activity like soccer planned, fitting in 7 minutes of jump roping might be totally doable!
What ideas do you have to get your kids moving for 7 minutes?
