Yes, Tonight - and Every Night - Honey
Men do everything they do in order to get laid.
by Satoshi Kanazawa, PhD, evolutionary psychologist at London School of Economics and author of Psychology Today's The Scientific Fundamentalist blog.
From an evolutionary psychological perspective, the ultimate (albeit often unconscious) motive of all human behavior is reproductive success. Among humans (and all other mammals), sex and mating are a female choice; it happens when and with whom women, not men, want it.
The power of female choice becomes apparent in a simple thought experiment. Imagine a society where sex and mating were entirely a male choice; individuals have sex whenever and with whomever men want, not whenever and with whomever women want. What would happen in such a society? Absolutely nothing, because people would never stop having sex! There would be no civilization in such a society, because people would not do anything besides have sex.
In reality, women do often say no to men. This is why men throughout history have had to conquer foreign lands, win battles and wars, compose symphonies, author books, write sonnets, paint portraits and cathedral ceilings, make scientific discoveries, play in rock bands, and write new computer software, in order to impress women so that they will agree to have sex with them. There would be no civilization, no art, no literature, no music, no Beatles, no Microsoft, if sex and mating were a male choice. Men have built (and destroyed) civilizations in order to impress women so that they might say yes. Women are the reason men do everything.
Bill Maher captures the essence of female choice perfectly, when he quips: "For a man to walk in to a bar and have his choice of any woman he wants, he would have to be the ruler of the world. For a woman to have the same power over men, she'd have to do her hair." Any reasonably attractive young woman exercises as much power as the (male) ruler of the world.
Put differently, every woman has the power to predict the future, while very few men do. If a man wakes up in the morning and says to himself, "Tonight I will get laid," the prediction will almost always fail, unless he is incredibly handsome. If a woman - any woman - wakes up in the morning and says to herself, "Tonight I will get laid," the prediction will always come true every time. Such is the power of female choice. This is why men - be they criminals or scientists - must impress women; men do everything they do in order to get laid.

Really? This is what passes for serious writing about sex and relationships on WebMD?
This article is ridiculous. As a man I find it amusing but totally off. Even as a highly sexual male, who thinks about women more than most, I have to disagree. alot of what I do is out of love for seeing things I have created, not to get women. When I build a car or paint a motorcycle, or make a model airplane, it is for me and although the 69 camaro I drive may attract women, I built it because I love it.
Oh, I also disagree about being able to get laid. If I decide thats what I want, it isn't too hard to find a like minded female. I have also turned down offers. So that "theory" is b.s. too.
"In reality, women do often say no to men".
This is the only part of this article that isn't true.
It should say "In reality, women almost always say no to men" (at least after they get married).
Of course, this is just a theory... but definitely one that I would like to see proved! It could be a very fun experiment!
Oh, and for the record, maybe I am the only woman that woke up one morning and thought: "tonight i will get laid".... but did not! But, honestly, I do not care too much, I probably stumbled into something more interesting, like a good book, or perhaps chocolate!
So in a situation where women had no say in the choice, men wouldnt contribute anything to society because they'd be too busy shaging each other all day and have no need to impress each other.
I'd like to hear how you account for so many gay men contributing to art, literatire, films, the arts etc. Men like Alan Bennett, Ian McKellen, John Gielgud, Stephen Fry, Elton John, Derek Jacobi, Noel Coward, Matt Lucas, Tennisee Williams, Andy Warhol, Russell T Davis, Will Young, Roddy McDowell, Neil Tennant, Quentin Crisp, Salvador Dali, Truman Capote, Alan Ball, Colin Jackson, Clive Barker, Kenny Everette, Rupert Everett, George Takei. Thats just off the top of my head.
And this guy is a PHd? Where did he get it, a christmas cracker?
This article is amusing as a humor piece, but surely no one would mistake it for real science. There are just too many stereotypes for this to be taken seriously.
Obviously this man has never met my husband.
Oh, and obviously women have never contributed to society at all because, you know, they're just busy picking men to *get laid* (yeah, they don't do the laying either). That's why women have never had any interest in working or being paid equally or getting the right to vote or have access to education, right?
And as to a woman saying "no"? Have you got any idea how often a woman's NO doesn't count? How many women get raped? And how few rapits actually pay for their crime?
That theory is vile and misogynist b.s.
Judging by the comments posted here by the men I can see they are very confronted by the "TRUTH!" Being a man I can understand completely the things that were written here. Really guys, think about it. If you want to "get a little" don't you do ALOT to get "it"? How do you feel when the answer is "no"? Do you take no for no? Do you keep working different strategies to get a yes? I mean if all we had to do was just shower, shave, brush our teeth and dress well would we get anywhere? Think about it the next time you want "a little somethin' somethin' " Clean yourself up, go to a local establishment where there might be more women to men ratio, walk in and sit down, do nothing else and see what happens.
Seriously? A woman just has to decide she wants to get laid? I've been married 4 years, my husband and I have been together 7 years. I am the one who gets shot down. ALL THE TIME. I am the one who gets rejected over and over again by her spouse. Not all men want sex all the time, and not all women don't want it at all.
