Why Do You Hate the Foods You Hate?

Cilantro. Ew!

Such an innocuous herb, but used in so many dishes. It’s all leafy green and fresh tasting. Except when you absolutely hate it and then its flavor is moldy, soapy gagalicious.

Some foods we just enjoy hating.

A while back Yahoo had a list of the top 10 most unloved foods. You’ll recognize some of your yuck favorites: mushrooms, beets, oysters, lima beans, Brussels sprouts. It didn’t include cottage cheese, tomatoes or tofu, so we’re not sure how complete it could be.

And that’s when we got this delicious idea. We need a list of America’s most hated foods. This is where you, our beloved food-hating readers, join the fun.

If the foods we’ve listed here are the tip of the iceberg lettuce — what others can you add? And more importantly, why do you hate them? Tell is in the comments section below.

As with all food and good conversation — keep your comments clean, your wit razor sharp, and stir your ingredients in the pot. No bruising anyone’s feelings but share your reasoning and experiences — and later this month we’ll kick-off a food smack down based on your feedback and comments.

May the nastiest food win. (My vote is gonna be liver. That stuff is just the worst!)
