Best and Worst Valentine’s Day Gifts

Valentine's Day Gifts

However you feel about Valentine’s Day, chances are at some point you’ve celebrated it, for better or for worse. We asked our commenters in the debates community what their best and worst Valentine’s Day gifts were, and this is what they had to say:

Butterflygarden: Worst Gift—A pair of flip flops. As much as I love flip flops, I was newly married and it just didn’t strike that romantic cord for me. lol
Best Gift—I have two. Several times I’ve gotten actual plants for my garden. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that! And once I got a homemade CD of some of my favorite songs. It was PERFECT and ROMANTIC.

MalibuSkipper shared a decidedly un-romantic night at the movies, when she was taken to see Nightmare on Elm Street: “I fell asleep — tired from taking care of our baby and not super interested in Freddy. Then, [got] yelled at for the rest of the night for being insensitive. Over though, so YAY! Lesson learned!” At least she can look back on it with good humor now!

CozyTime had a dream come true when her husband surprised her with the Corvette she’d been coveting her whole life! CozyTime, he sounds like a keeper!

3point14 proved that you don’t need chocolates or expensive jewelry to have a memorable time together: “The best gift I ever got for Valentine’s Day was two years ago. My [boyfriend] and I spent the day in bed, drinking champagne and eating take-out…it was the first day we exchanged “I love yous.” Still gives me butterflies every time I hear him say it!”

And one more bad gift, courtesy of Susiemargaret: “a friend of mine gave his wife a bug-sprayer!”

Though maybe that’s what she really wanted, who knows?

Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!
